Spring Youth Service Day
Just a reminder that Spring Youth Service Day reports are DUE on May 1st. Don't disqualify your chapters from the Chapter of Excellence award because you don't report. :-)

National Service Week, AAMDs, and the rest

Don't forget! Tomorrow is the deadline to report National Service Week projects, to mail AAMDs, and to provide all of the other requirements that Nationals, well, requires. Failure to do so means that you will lose your Good Standing, and won't be able to vote on the legislative floor at Nationals.

Please run down your checklists and turn in your documentation (and checks) to the National Office.

Invitation for Region V
Hi, brothers!

Alpha Alpha Pi chapter of Westminster College would like to invite everyone in the region to a day of service and fellowship with us. Formerly, we held an annual spring service project called Canoe-A-Thon; however, it is no longer working as a service project, so we'd like to make it a region-wide fellowship event, and we'll throw in a service project, too.

The current date for this event is Sunday, April 30, which is somewhat short notice on our part, but I hope that you and your chapters will consider coming! The idea grew out of the Section 64 Conference, so we're trying to make it happen! We are going to be having canoe races on our campus lake, and we'll have other fun events ready to go as well.

Please plan on bringing $2 per person with you, just so we can cover the cost of food and drinks for everyone. We'd like to start the event at 1 p.m. and could go until 6:30 that evening.

If you could please give me some idea of how many from your chapter to expect by Wednesday, April 26, that would be wonderful! My email is jaimee.davis@gmail.com

Please pass this information along to your chapters!

Look forward to a day with you all,

~Jaimee Davis

I'm all psyched about going to my first regional conference. You would think that in 8 years I would have been to one but nope.....

So, who's going to be there? I know I am. Iota Xi is coming with 4 and we're convoying with Rho Chi.

I didn't realize how far Marshall is away... Looks like prime time to start working on my next paper.

Hurricane relief

I think that almost all of the members of this community are also members of alpha_phi_omega, but if you're not, there are several links there to organizations and efforts to provide hurricane relief. This Fraternity did TREMENDOUS service during the cleanup of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and from first estimates, the damage here looks to be even larger.

The National Service Committee would like to recognize and thank Chapters that are performing projects to assist in the relief efforts. Please let us know at http://members.apo.org/service/service_reporting.php
and select "Emergency Response Project."

Kind thoughts and helping hands to those who are affected.

Community Information
Since I just posted in alpha_phi_omega about this community, I figure now is a good time to do the community rules/policies thing.

Anyone is welcome to join this community. We have open membership. Only members may post to the community and it is a moderated community. The wonderful docjeed and I (ka3ytl) are your moderators and maintainers. We try to stay up on things. To be honest, this is a fairly slow community. In general, the first time that you post something it will be kicked over to us for approval. Assuming it is fairly relevant we will approve it. For the most part, you can expect approval within 24hrs. At this point, you will likely be placed on unmoderated status. We figure that you all are adults and that we can trust you to do the right things. This does prevent little Susie Spammer from joining the community and then spamming it.

If we discover (and we will) that you are abusing your right to post to the community, you will be placed on moderated status again. You don't want us to have to do that and we really don't want to have to do that.

(relevant topics would include, but are not limited to: Events happening in R5, events at your Chapter, Events happening throughout the fraternity that you think people would want to attend/be interested in, etc. If you are not sure, then ASK :))

Free money!
For your chapters, that is. The deadline for Youth Service Grants is quickly approaching: January 31st! It's basically a $100-500 donation to help run a project benefitting kids. Actually, the text is "pre-college-age youth," but in any event, I'd like to strongly encourage chapters to apply.

After all, free money is a good thing. Free money for helping others is even better.

I hope this isn't considered spamming, if it is please feel free to delete it.

I've created a new community on LJ for brothers of the Alpha Gamma Xi chapter at the University of Dayton. I'm not sure there are any other brothers here on LJ but I thought I'd put it out there in case there are.

It's at apo_agx

NSW Reporting Due TODAY
Just a reminder that several chapters still have to report. Over half of the chapters in the Region have submitted their reports by web form (I get a copy), and one chapter submitted six different ones (you know who you are). Please do so, even if you haven't done a project-- we just want to know.

Yours in LFS,
R5 Service Guy

National Service Week!
It's THIS WEEK! And it must be reported by November 15th, if the chapter wants their delegates to VOTE at Nationals.

For resources, the service side of the National Website has been revamped to make things easier for chapters to plan, execute, and report projects. The link: http://members.apo.org/service/index.php
